The history of Christmas tree

The history of holiday tree and carols - tradition of holiday tree has its beginning in Germany. In the 16th century devout Germans brought into their houses the decorated trees. Some was built Christmas pyramids and then decked them with lights and evergreens. Candles was added to a holiday tree by Martin Luther in the 16th century too. Idea for candles appears in the time of walk. Mentioned protestant reformer one winter evening noticed brillinace of stars shining between evergreens.

Only a few know that majority of 19th century residents of America treated holiday trees as oddity. The first information about Christmas tree in that area appeared in 1830s and say about German settlers as a proprietors of holiday tree. Some say that the German settlers had Christmas trees as early as 1747. However, in the 1840s holiday trees were seen as pagan symbols and they were not accepted by majority of residents of America.

The tradition of holiday carols

The word „carol” actually means dance or a song of joy and praise. In the past carols were songs of pagans those were sung during Winter Solstice celebrations when members of event danced round circles of stone. Early Christians inspired pagan songs and prepared Christian songs. In 129 the song „Angel’s Hymn” was known and sung during Christmas service in Italy. Other Christmas song was written in 760 for the Greek Orthodox Church. After that time more and more composers in Europe started writting holiday carols. However the most of carols was sung in Latin and because of that many Christians weren’t intrested in singing Christmas carols.
